LITTLEPORT
Polysafe
was called in to survey the above level crossings by Balfour Beatty. They
had been instructed by Railtrack and the Health and Safety Executive to
urgently replace this now dangerous level crossing with a much more durable
level crossing system which included kerb support for outside panels and
not as was the case with this rubber crossing to rely on the concrete sleepers
and ballast for support. The new level crossings had to fully comply to
Railtracks new specification RT/CE/S/040.
The Polysafe heavy duty level crossing systems using steel framed polymer panels, concrete kerbs, rubber insulating support wedges and sturdy securing brackets was chosen and installed by Balfour Beatty in record time. It has been performing without any problems for the last 5 years.
DAGENHAM
This rubber crossing
was deteriorating rapidly with similar problems to the above. Most noticeably
the panels were not being supported by the sleepers and ballast due to sinking.
Also
without any kerbs the outside panels were giving a very uneven and dangerous
surface.
This level crossing situated next to a station was regularly being used
by pedestrians, a case for absolute safety, therefore the Polysafe proven
system was installed and is now giving all users of this crossing total
confidence in it's safety and reliability.
These are two of the many similar rubber crossings that have
needed to be replaced by Polysafe over the last 10 years.
